Coffee Packaging Solutions
Freshly roasted beans require precise atmospheric control. We engineer flexible packaging that blocks oxygen ingress and UV degradation while actively venting CO2. From 130-micron AL/PET/PE high-barrier structures to WIPF-certified degassing valves, our pouches secure aroma profiles for up to 12 months, ensuring your specialty roasts reach retail shelves exactly as intended.
Industry Pain Points & Our Solutions
Addressing the physical realities of supply chains, shelf life, and retail environments with technical authority.
Oxygen Causing Flavor Loss
The Constraint: Specialty coffee beans oxidize rapidly when exposed to ambient air, degrading delicate flavor notes within 14 days of roasting.
Our Solution: We utilize high-barrier PET/AL/PE laminations achieving an Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) of <0.1 cc/m2/day. This structural defense locks out ambient oxygen, extending retail shelf life to a full 12 months without nitrogen flushing.
UV & Light Degradation
The Constraint: Transparent or single-layer packaging allows UV light to penetrate, accelerating the breakdown of coffee oils and causing rancidity.
Our Solution: Integration of pure aluminum foil (AL) or metalized polyester (VMPET) core layers. These opaque barriers block 99.9% of harmful UV rays, protecting the lipid structure of light and medium roasts displayed under harsh supermarket lighting.
CO2 Degassing Issues
The Constraint: Freshly roasted beans release up to 10 liters of CO2 per kilogram. Sealed bags will rupture during transit, while unsealed bags invite oxidation.
Our Solution: Ultrasonic welding of WIPF one-way degassing valves directly into the pouch film. Engineered to open at precisely 2-6 mbar pressure, venting excess gas while completely preventing external air from entering the package.
Recommended Packaging Formats
Engineered dimensions and material structures tailored for specific roasting volumes and retail strategies.
Stand Up Pouches (Doypack)
Ideal for 100g sample packs or 250g ground coffee retail lines. Features a stable bottom gusset (K-seal) providing a wide front billboard for brand messaging.
- Structure: Available with an optional hanging hole for retail pegboards.
- Features: Standard press-to-close zippers for consumer convenience.
- Production: Fast turnaround (7-10 days). Digital printing MOQ starting at 500 pcs.
Side Gusset Bags
The standard configuration for 2kg to 5kg commercial bulk supply. Expandable side gussets maximize internal volume while remaining highly space-efficient for palletizing.
- Structure: Manufactured with 150-micron heavy-duty film to prevent B2B transit puncture.
- Features: Typically sealed with applied tin ties for bulk dispensing.
- Production: Most cost-effective format. Available in Kraft/AL/PE or Matte PET finishes.
Coffee Brand Packaging Case: Extending Shelf Life
The Challenge: A specialty coffee distributor faced 15% return rates due to bag ruptures and rapid oxidation during cross-border shipping.
Our Solution: We engineered a High-barrier AL/PET/PE structure integrated with a precision 4-mbar One-way Degassing Valve and reinforced side seals.
The Result: Zero transit ruptures, a validated 12-month shelf life, and a 30% increase in wholesale reorders.

How to Measure Pouch Dimensions
Width (W)
Measure horizontally from the outer left edge to the outer right edge of the flat pouch.
Height (H)
Measure vertically from the absolute top edge to the bottom edge, including the zipper area.
Gusset (G)
Measure the total distance across the expanded bottom or side fold from front to back.
Material Structures & Custom Features
Recommended Material Structures
Material: PET/VMPET/PE | Application: Standard Coffee
Cost-effective structure with excellent moisture resistance for 3-6 months shelf life.
Material: PET/AL/PE | Application: Premium Coffee
Maximum barrier properties against oxygen and UV light. Secures aroma for 12+ months.
Material: Kraft/PLA | Application: Eco-Friendly & Sustainable Coffee
100% compostable structure maintaining moderate barrier performance for rapid-turnaround roasts.
One-way Degassing Valve & Resealable Zipper
Enhance functionality for both the roaster and the end-consumer. Our one-way degassing valves are precision-tested to release CO2 without allowing oxygen ingress. We pair these with premium pocket zippers or standard press-to-close tracks, ensuring the beans remain fresh in the consumer's pantry weeks after opening.
Tear Notch & Matte Finish
Laser-scored tear notches provide a clean, frustration-free opening experience. To elevate shelf-appeal for premium branding, we apply soft-touch Matte finishes or Spot UV gloss over specific logo elements, creating a tactile contrast that drives immediate retail pick-up.
